Our philosophy

The prospect of this school surges from the experience of 30 years in Martial Arts and of the intention to establish a place of teaching and discipline on a high level, following fundamental principles of a Martial Arts school. At the same time supporting sports in this area and motivate students in each of these disciplines.

The Martial way of teaching is of high importance and fundamental for people's development, at the same time for society, because of the principals of conduct that take the individual to a level of constant evolution, self control and a Martial discipline.

We want to prepare our students in their physical health, create an atmosphere of sportive competition on professional, social and  educational level and strengthen the relationship between parents and children, companions and students of different ages and social classes.

Besides our regular trainings, we organize and participate in different Martial Arts events through Mexico and other countries worldwide, because we consider it of high importance to keep on evolving in Martial Arts teachings as well as practice and interchange experiences and socialize with other Martial artist in the world.

For more information about upcoming events, such as tournaments, seminars, Dual Meets and Camp trainings, please check our calendar of events on the bottom of this page.

Our school doesn't intent to have a maximum amount of students, instead it intents to maintain a high level of quality , therefore the students who wish to join themselves with this school, have to follow certain structures.

Since 1998 he has been giving classes in different places in Playa del Carmen such as Bodyworks Gym, El Ateneo, Muscle Beach Gym and his own Doyang on the 10th Avenue, which opened in the year 2000.

In December of 2004 he opened the first and so far only Martial Arts school in the Riviera Maya on the 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen.

The school is located on the 2nd floor on Calle Corazón, overlooking the 5th Avenue and the ocean, specializing in multiple Martial Arts.

Besides Tae Kwon Do and Aikido, one can practice Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Tai Chi, Full Contact, Jiu Jitsu and Vale Todo.

The most important aspect and true essence of what Master Miguel A. Gallardo teaches, is based on discipline. According to him, without discipline, one can not accomplish the necessary development, not in Martial Arts, nor in life in general. He doesn´t wish his students just to learn how to defend themselves, but he tries to guide them towards a Martial attitude of respect, personal growth and discipline, this way being able to be better individuals within society and the world around us.

He is writer of books such as:

Teaching structure for children and youths.

Our philosophy of Martial Arts for children is to create an additional education for children and youths, based on discipline, respect and confidence, besides regular physical exercise which is necessary for their development.

As mentioned before, the goal of Kwan Moo Do Playa is not to have a high amount of students, but in stead give the opportunity to a smaller group of children who are really determined to reach the required levels of development of Tae Kwon Do.

An important aspect of good functioning is the team work between parents, children and instructors.

The training process is based on every degree presented as follows:

White and yellow belts start to understand discipline on a sporty and personal level, at the same time creating an idea of personal growth, achieved through their effort. All this is based on technical as well as esthetical Martial movements.

They recognize their commitment of responsibility to anything they dedicate themselves to, in order to achieve better results. This way we prepare children with a more solid or defined confidence.

The next levels, green and blue belts, are taken to a more developed, competitive level with advanced movements and techniques. Their level of complexity increases and their interest to grow forces them to take decisions, becoming children with clearer, more objective ideas of what they want.

Brown and red belts are being prepared in a psychological level of constant personal development in their character, teaching them to direct themselves and other companions, by principles of personal growth and competition.

The highest level for children is Black belt Poom and can be achieved by children who decide to dedicate themselves to Tae Kwon Do on a more profound level as well as within National and International competition. To reach this level, the student has been practicing and studying for a large amount of time and is kind of an independent kid, that has good qualifications in school, besides having a high level of physical health. At the age of 18 years old, a Black Belt Poom can make his exam for Black Belt 1st Dan on so on.
